First the advert: Deloitte’s Washington office hosted myself and Throughline for a book launch party back in late September. We developed a new-look PPT deck that I delivered — for the very first time! Nice crowd, great space, good food. Who could ask for anything more?

Well, Jennifer Canzoneri at BenBella wrangled a CSPAN Book TV crew to tape the festivities and my presentation. It was an exciting peak experience for myself and my Throughline comrades in attendance — to include most notably Founder Scott Williams who introduced me just like he does in the book’s foreword.

I could not be more grateful to those involved, particularly our many friends at Deloitte.

Well, CSPAN wanted to integrate the slides in the video and not just show them second-hand off the monitor I was standing in front of. That took time, which is why the show is airing only now — several weeks later. CSPAN has always been very good to me, so no complaints.

Still, we have some tough competition, as the show debuts at 7:10pm on Xmas Eve (24th) and then rebroadcasts at 7:10am on Christmas Day. So we go up against Jimmy Stewart in “It’s a Wonderful Life” and/or opening presents.

Consider it my Holiday gift to one and all …

Hoping for more showings after that (who knows?), but I thought I’d get this info out and about in advance for any who want to catch it, tell others about it, or tape it. It will, of course, be available online at some subsequent time and I will let all know that when it happens.

As for the source of this post’s title, credit goes to a truly fascinating bit of reporting from WAPO on a very old Arizona tree that was cored by scientists to see how it had fared during good years and bag over the last almost 200 years.
