Beware of one-sided storytelling about other superpowers' threatening behaviors
What’s missing in these breathless reports is an admission that America has done the same or is doing the same or set the precedent itself in the past -- along with possessing the same capabilities
Two stories, one on India targeting regime critics in the US and the other on China persistently hacking our infrastructure to set us up for disruptions during any conflict over Taiwan.
Taken in isolation? Disturbing alright, but it’s always better to engage in broader framing. Why? Otherwise virtually all news is scary, bad news. Plus, it makes it seem like the world is out to get us when it’s really just other superpowers pressing their perceived claims and rights to act not unlike the US does on an everyday basis.
