As part of my detaching from Throughline Inc proper (moving “up
to Throughline Ventures’ family of companies), we’re divvying up the kids, so speak, in this instance separating my Substack subscriptions from what Throughline otherwise uses Stripe for.
This is a tricky process, and one of two outcomes is going to happen:
We’ll fail at this and I will have to start over all my billing with my own Stripe account (currently linked), or
We’ll successfully disaggregate the pool of customers and then it’ll only be those handful who just now subscribed (paying) who may need to resubscribe to the legacy Stripe account (with me refunding off my personal one, to which they just subscribed).
I only share this because I fear a lot of confusion if this drags out much further (situation of being stranded somewhat between the old legacy Stripe account and the one I just created before we collectively realized we needed to split up the legacy one). Throughline is working the problem diligently and hopefully we get it all figured out this week.
Stay tuned. I am attempting to avoid any and all purges in this handoff.
