Thomas Barnett, author of the book “America’s New Map” and senior business strategist at Throughline Inc., discussed with NTD’s Melina Wisecup the cease-fire deal in Gaza, his expectations from the second Trump administration, and whether Cuba should be designated as a state sponsor of terrorism.
Baby steps …
Taped this yesterday during the afternoon and it ran last night on the NTD evening news program called the Capitol Report with sub host Melina Wisecup.
If you look closely, you can spot the makeup-covered gash on my forehead that earned me three stitches last week (ice slip while throwing snow) over my left eye — not fun.
Set-up behind me reflects us getting the house ready for sale. That’s our dining room/wife’s home office readied with some generic art (from China, suitably enough for the network).
I like this sort of engagement so much more than the old way, which usually meant driving or being driven to some local TV station to tape a remote where you are all alone in the room, staring into a camera lens (with no vision of yourself or the other side), and trying to make out the reporter’s questions through an ear bud.
This way, there’s no lag to mess up your delivery (you can sound drunk trying to visually match your “slow” lips!), plus you can see yourself the entire time (something they usually avoid to skip the lip-chasing effect) and adjust as required (giving you the confidence to lean in or back for emphasis and get those jazz hands moving!
Best of all, no big chunk of your day lost. This whole thing, to include appearance prep, took about 20 minutes.
Taped about 9-10 mins and they used pretty much all of it, editing out snippets.
My thanks to the PR Firm that set it up: Elkordy Global Strategies.
