The majority of the world's population votes this year -- under information duress
On the face of it, my subtitle alone is worth celebrating: more than half of the world is voting in national elections this year — that in a world featuring a majority global middle-class population.
These are amazing achievements when you think about it, but, of course, we — the consuming public — prefer dread over hope.
There are, of course, legit fears to be had.
The emergence of AI-fueled disinformation is entirely worrisome. Already, we see the spread of an offspring of Holocaust denialism in the form of Hamas/7 October denialism — namely, the charge of a “false flag” operation now circulating in far right US circles.
