The Global Business Summit (India) presentation (video)

I am back in Yellow Springs OH after 8 days of travel to India for the Times of India’s Global Business Summit, where I gave a keynote late in the second day (stories to come on that on Saturday).

Here’s how I propose to relay all that happened:

  • Today, the video of the presentation, with transcript (annotated)

  • Thursday, the related op-ed posted by The Economic Times (of India), fellow pub to The Times of India

  • Friday, my notes from the summit

  • Saturday, my notes (and lotsa pix) from the trip, where I was accompanied by my spouse.

So, today, the presentation video.

Note: the summit was run and staged far more like a TV production than a conference pre se. Your real audience was the camera, not the crowd.

I prepped this briefing extensively, penning a very succinct script click by click (60 in all). I recorded that presentation at exactly 14 minutes and 59 seconds for my 15-minute promised slot (boy, did that get moved around for a lot of keynote speakers), and listened to it dozens of times beforehand so I basically had it memorized.

That is not something I normally do, but I knew I would be presently sometime around 4am my Ohio time, and that I would be severely sleep-deprived (about 16 hours total across the previous four nights), so I knew my synapses would be fighting me the entire time in terms of recall.

The practice was well worth the effort. It saved my ass repeatedly.

I made some mistakes in delivery (proving my dementia and old age, per the Special Counsel report subsequently released to the press back in the States), but, overall, was extremely happy with the capture. I note the mistakes and surprises in the annotated transcript below.

I would estimate my actual delivery to be about 85% in near-complete recitation of the script.

Here’s the video:
