A great idea. I hope to hear more of these! I think this first one, though, like many 'pilots,' went off the rails first time around. I didn't anticipate such focus on assumptions that her Asian lineage makes her an Other with unique insights into...the same society we've all been living in. Her generational perspectives were much more compelling to me, but crowded out by an overvaluation of race.
More, please! Good length. We most definitely need to hear from younger voices. I was sorry to hear of Vonne Mei's experience of racist treatment by classmates & others during/after COVID. But it sounds like she handles it all with aplomb!
A minority is typically asked to explain (What are you?), the majority assumes there is nothing to explain (We simply are.). This is why time abroad is so enlightening. It's good to experience being the other. Eye opening every time for me. My eldest spent years living in Japan. Got a serious education on outsider-dom.
I've been following your writings long enough that I remember your adoption of Vonne. It is so interesting to hear from her now.
Please do more of these!
Well done!
MORE PLEASE!!
Thanks Thomas and Mei Mei for this! I appreciate you both for sharing and bringing context.

We cannot improve what we cannot measure.
We cannot measure what we cannot see.
